Portavin’s fully equipped laboratories provide technical support to bottling operations for pre and post bottling analysis, analytical support for cellar adjustments, contract analytical services and certification for international wine markets.
Our laboratory is vital to the maintenance of our quality accreditations and regulatory compliance. Portavin is proud to have fully qualified and experienced winemakers available to ensure that your wine is well looked after through all stages.
Services Available:
- Pre-receival wine analysis
- Wine receival by bulk transport ex your winery
- On site pre bottling wine analysis - it is standard procedure is to conduct the following analysis upon receival of wine:
* fSO2, TSO2, Alcohol, pH, TA, DO, Turbidity, Density, Temperature
- Bulk wine maintenance analysis
- Contract Analysis Services, including pre-receival
- Export Analysis Services, including VI1 analysis
- Cellar Services
- Bulk wine storage
* Approx 600,000L in 36 tanks, housed under an insulated 8m roof * Short term storage offered for wine to be bottled at Portavin Victoria * Long term storage is possible subject to availability * Wine filled to tank under blanket of CO2, and stored under constant N2 reticulation
- Pre-bottling additions to wine including SO2 and copper
- Pre-bottling adjustments to dissolved CO2 and dissolved oxygen
- Pre-bottling filtration
- Pre-bottling warming of wine
- In progress bottling analysis – at commencement, dissolved oxygen, bottle fill volume and alcohol concentration are monitored
- Post bottling analysis:
* fSO2, TSO2, Alcohol, pH, TA, Turbidity, Microbiological Count * A final report on the bottled wine is forwarded to your winemaker
Additional analyses are available and will be quoted upon request. These include:
- Dissolved CO2 , VA, Glucose/Fructose, Malic Acid, Protein Stability, Tartrate Stability.
- Export Approval – Portavin Melbourne can perform the VI1 analysis and can provide samples and analysis for export approval around the world.
