Wine Technical & Oenological Services - Portavin Perth

Portavin’s fully equipped laboratories provide technical support to bottling operations for pre and post bottling analysis, analytical support for cellar adjustments, contract analytical services and certification for international wine markets.

Our laboratories are a vital tool contributing to the maintenance of our quality accreditations and regulatory compliance.

Portavin is proud to have fully qualified and experienced winemakers supported by qualified laboratory technicians available to ensure our clients wines are managed with the utmost care and attention throughout the entire process.

We provide timely accurate information on analysis and wine handling processes and liaise with our clients at each step. Portavin is a member of the Interwinery Analysis Group constantly monitoring generated analyses against other members.

Services provided by our laboratory division extend to all producers as a stand alone service. Services available include:

 

 

Pre-receival, pre-bottling and post bottling wine analysis - capability to perform

* NATA accredited analysis - The Portavin Perth laboratory is supported by our NATA accredited Margaret River laboratory and two NATA accredited signatories to facilitate this service. Continuing Approval Analyses Certificates for wine exports from Australia are supplied in AWBC acceptable format.

  • A pricelist for these services can be supplied upon request. Free pre and post bottling analysis provided with bottling service.

Cellar Services and Bulk wine maintenance analysis:
Adjustments to wine chemistry through additions or sparging on delivered wine are able to be made prior to bottling and are only done so following an authorization process with the client. Price lists for wine handling and subsequent analysis are available on request.

In progress bottling analysis:
Dissolved Oxygen, bottle fill levels, closure application and packaging specifications are monitored throughout the bottling process. Any further in progress bottling analysis requested will incur a charge.

Contract Analysis Services:
Additional analysis includes:

  • Baumé
  • Bentonite Trials
  • Pinking Trials

Export Analysis Services:
The Portavin Perth laboratory has two NATA accredited signatories to facilitate this service. Continuing Approval Analyses Certificates for wine exports from Australia are supplied in AWBC acceptable format.

  • VI1 analysis certificates for wines going to the EU.
  • Certificates for Analysis for export to China.

 PLEASE NOTE: This chart is a guide only. Wine chemistry can affect filtration despite turbidity results. Colloids and other charged species will not contribute to turbidity but can block filters.
