Mike Davies – Chairman of Portavin Group of Companies Mike Davies graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College with a degree in Oenology in 1984. Whilst studying, he wrote a thesis on mobile bottling which was the foundation of the Portavin business which he established in 1988.
Mike held a number of winemaking positions in McLaren Vale, Mildura, Coonawarra and Margaret River before starting the Portavin business which began as a mobile bottling operation in Margaret River. Portavin has grown to operate four static bottling sites and two mobile lines offering a wide range of products and services to the Australian Wine Industry.

Kym Hooper - Foundation Partner Kym Hooper is a foundation partner in the Portavin business and has supported the management team from the very beginning.
Kyms’ background is in agriculture and whilst he has maintained some of those interests, he has spent much of the last 15 years developing Cape Jaffa, his family owned and run winery on the limestone Coast in SA. Kym also has some other industrial pursuits.

Ian Matthews - Managing Director, VIC (Partner VIC) Ian Matthews graduated from University of Western Australia in 1981 with BSc (Plant Physiology, 1st Hons). Ian worked at the following wineries - Sandalford, Evans and Tate, Rouge Homme and Penfold’s while studying at Roseworthy Agricultural College. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Wine at Roseworthy in 1987, where he met Mike Davies (Portavin founder).
Ian commenced with Portavin in 1990 running the Portavin Victoria mobile business which grew to include the static business in 2002. Since the sale of the mobile business in 2007, focus is now mainly on development of PET for wine and technical & national support for the company.

Tony Royal - Managing Director, SA (Partner SA) Tony Royal is a qualified Oenologist (1982) and prior to establishing Portavin SA, Tony worked as Chief Executive Officer of Oeneo Australasia Pty Ltd for 8 years (previously Seguin Moreau Australia). After graduating from Roseworthy College in 1982, Tony had an extensive career working in key winemaking roles within Southcorp and Mildara Blass for 14 years prior to joining Seguin Moreau Australia.
In 2004 Tony joined the Portavin team and was instrumental in setting up Portavin's newest facility in Port Adelaide. Tony's current role is Managing Director for Portavin SA.

Peter Walker - Business Development Manager (Partner WA) Peter joined Portavin in 1996. He graduated from the Australian Maritime College (Launceston) in 1986 with a Diploma of Applied Science (Fisheries) and, prior to joining Portavin, has been involved in fishing, aquaculture and food processing industries where he has held a range of operational and managerial positions.
Since joining Portavin responsibilities have focused on operational management, business development and key account management of the Western Australian business.

Gerlinde Watson - General Manager, WA Gerlinde is another Roseworthy Agricultural College student where she studied an Associate Diploma of Applied Science and graduated as dux of her year. After spending several years working in the equine industry, Gerlinde moved to Perth to complete a Bachelor of Business (Acc / Business Law).
She gained experience in Management roles in Perth, spending three years as Marketing Operations Manager at the WA Turf Club. The wine industry finally lured her to move to Margaret River where she took the role of Business Manager with Xanadu Wines and stayed with them through its transition from a small family run winery to a listed company. Gerlinde joined Portavin in 2001 and has played an integral role in the growth and expansion of Portavin from a purely mobile business through to the fully integrated wine services business it is today.

Nick Williams - General Manager, New Zealand Nick graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1985 with majors in Accounting and Economics. Leaving South Africa for England, Nick qualified in London as Chartered Accountant. After a two year stint working in Paris, where he attempted the language and confirmed his interest in the wine industry, he returned to London to work in the fresh produce import and export industry.
He left the UK for New Zealand in 1994 with his Kiwi wife and joined DB Breweries as Financial Controller of Allied Liquor Merchants. Thereafter Nick has gained business experience in senior finance roles in Fresh Produce Export (ENZA), Chemicals (Fernz/Orica), Recruitment (Hudson) and financial services (Tower Insurance). Now returning to his industry of choice, Nick joined Portavin Auckland in September 2009.
