When are we looking for staff?
Portavin operates around the clock all year round. We have staff who have worked for Portavin for more than ten years, and others that join the team during their university or college breaks to gain experience in the wine industry. Short term, long term and casual positions are regularly available.

What happens next?

Training you to work for us:
Once you have accepted your position with Portavin, on the agreed start date you will be given a formal induction and orientation followed by ongoing work based on the job training. This training is continued with presentations, and appraisals during your employment term.

Portavin Victoria
Current Positions Available: CELLAR HAND
Start Date: Early April 2010
POSITION OBJECTIVE: To perform and be proficient in all operations relating to the Portavin cellar and to be an effective, reliable team member.
CELLAR OPERATIONS PERFORMED:
- Wine receipt including pre-unloading inspection and wine transfer.
- Wine preparation for bottling including additions, filtration and gas sparging.
- Tank and cellar cleaning procedures.
QUALITY & SAFETY:
- It is a requirement that all staff abide by the procedures prescribed in the Occupational Health and Safety Manual, and follow the Portavin personal hygiene policy.
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Report to: Wine Technical Services Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Cellar operations experience
- Attention to detail
- Laboratory experience an advantage
- Forklift licence an advantage
Portavin - New Zealand - Current Positions Available:
ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT
We are seeking an energetic and highly organized individual to assist us with the administration of our business, dealing with all facets, including customers, suppliers, and Portavin employees.
You will be a team player with awesome communication skills, and a ‘can-do’ attitude. You will work closely with the Winemaker, Operations Manager and the General Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that all customer details for bottling are tracked and entered into the system, ordering of third party supplies , checking of quotes to customers before being sent out and assisting in other areas including reception, accounts and sales.
You must have previous administration experience gained ideally in the wine industry; an excellent customer facing manner and an enthusiastic, proactive approach to your work.
Key attributes include and energy and passion for the wine industry; a hands on attitude; proven experience of working in a team environment - sometimes under pressure, the ability to prioritize and a very strong attention to detail.
This role is a great first step into the New Zealand wine industry for a recently qualified graduate who is happy to embrace anything they encounter, where making a great cup of coffee is as important as checking the details of a presentation or being the voice on the phone for our customers.
WAREHOUSE CO-ORDINATOR
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Co-ordinator to lead the day to day operations of the warehouse and its staff, whilst working as part of that team.
The successful applicant will work closely with Operations Manager and have responsibility for all activities of warehousing including supervision and training of the warehouse team, inventory control, dry goods QC inspections, documentation and liaison with customers.
You must have at least two years of experience in running a warehouse; be energetic, and have a passion for the wine industry; have a strong customer focus and the ability to develop warehousing procedures.
