It was there that he met Mike Davies and a friendship was born. After a number of winemaking stints at Sandalford, Evans and Tate, Rouge Homme and Penfolds, Ian worked in wine sales with Berkmann Wine Cellars in London.
He returned to Australia in 1990 and teamed up with Mike Davies and Kym Hooper to launch Portavin into Victoria. Ian has overseen the growth of the company from a start-up of one small mobile bottling line to today where it provides a fully integrated wine service.
As well as general management Ian focuses on the development of PET usage for the wine industry and in providing technical support for the company on a national basis.
