Portavin is proud to announce its association with the 2017 Margaret River Wine Show which will return to Dunsborough from the 30 October to 2 November 2017.
This is the 16th Margaret River Wine Show and this year’s show is expected to be the biggest yet with 21 Judges and Associates tasting and assessing the anticipated 750+ wine entries. Post its inception in 2002, the show has seen a rapid growth with the number of entries. The show seeks to unite the wine community of the Margaret river region with a common goal – pursuit of wine excellence.
Oliver’s Taranga winemaker and director Corrina Wright will return to chair the panel for the second year. Also on the judging panel are Bellwether Wines’ Sue Bell, Pete Bissell from Balnaves of Coonawarra, Dave Brookes from Wine Marketing Labs, Xanadu Wines’ Brendan Carr, Sutton Grange Estate’s Melanie Chester, Giant Steps’ Steve Flamsteed, Alex Hudak of Pure Wine Co, City Wine Shop’s Gabrielle Poy, Adam Wadewitz from Shaw + Smith and Vasse Felix’s Virginia Willcock.

Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 October 2017 – Delivery of wine for judging (Wyndham Resort)
Monday 30 October to Wednesday 1 November 2017 – Judging of exhibitor entries
Thursday 2 November 2017 9.00am to 11.30am – Exhibitor Tasting (Wyndham Resort)
Thursday 2 November 2017 6pm – Gala Awards Dinner
Late November / early December 2017 – Halliday Wine Companion Australian Cabernet Challenge results announced
Some of the trophies that are handed out include “Red wine of the show”, “White wine of the show”, “Best Chardonnay”, “Best Cabernet Sauvignon Blend” and so on. The “2016 Best Single Vineyard white” was handed over to Xanadu Stevens Road Chardonnay 2015 by Portavin and we expect to hand out the trophy to a deserving winner in 2017.
